About Us and our current project

We are storytellers who work with a unique formula to create and produce together. Our current project “The Castle and the Witch's Gold” is a unique and different real life fairy tale based on a town called Hay-on-Wye

Hay-on-Wye is a magical and beautiful place, situated on the borders of England and Wales, nestled between rolling hills and stooping valleys. It is home to more second-hand books than any other place in the world and inspired us so much that we left our lives in the big city to live in its’ crumbling Castle – which is also home to Richard Booths huge collection of antiquarian books. It is a centre for intellectual thought, fair trade and people of the town are very aware of environmental and human issues.

Hay is host to the Real Hay Festival and the Guardian Literary festival, which attract visitors from around the world to this small market town. They are one of the first towns to go plastic bag free. Hay is situated on the river Wye, and its written history dates back to 784.

“The Castle and the Witch's Gold” is a fun book and production following the lives of a Fairy called Star, The Puppeteer and the Inhabitants of the Kingdom of Hay-on-Wye. You are told a real life fairy tale through images, poetry and storytelling of a great Kingdom, real battles, the real world, a wicked witch and Star’s quest to find the Puppeteer who can tell the story of her Kingdoms plight!

Including hilarious rhymes, great acting and laugh out loud scenes – this real life fairy story will enthral readers and audiences of all ages!

Star is banished from the Kingdom by an evil Witch who wants to take over the Kingdom and eventually the whole world with the use of modern technologies. Her evil Witch's Gold represents all modern ills, and children are educated about a broad range of issues including environment, bullying, friendship and honesty.

The Puppeteer and his art – “I have passion beyond description for puppetry and puppets. I love what I do and love to entertain and enhance the lives of my audience. I do not stand around shaking fluffy animals at children hoping for a laugh. I have much more respect for my onlookers than that. I believe there is great intellect in those who recognise creativity, I respect the audience, be they adults or children and treat them as though they wish to be entertained and kept enthralled through a beautiful art form. I create high quality beings that I breath life into. I have trained for six years in many aspects of puppetry, acting, performance and clowning. I still learn every day.

One day when I was working as a clown in South America – children taught me how to laugh again. Now I have chosen to make entertainment my life’s work.

I like to have fun and to laugh, to sit in the sun. I like to tell stories old and new and to create and produce with my life partner The Poet”

The Poet and her art

“I like to make you laugh and cringe at the same time. I like to describe the most horrible of all beings and then ensure that they are squished and squashed thoroughly before bedtime. I like real fairy stories and see magic and life and love and laughter all around us. The Castle and the Witch's Gold has been a difficult production, but I believe the end result is a truly unique piece of theatre and a great book that children and adults enjoy reading. Working in conjuction with my partner The Puppeteer has given me the passion and courage to produce work that I am really proud of. He's a remarkable entertainer, and as our skills complement each others work well. The great fun of the production is the storytelling - not many people are lucky enough to dress up as a fairy on a daily basis! "

So What’s it all about?

The show is about the book and the book is about the show!
